Mark Harris Honored by Harvard Law School

NEW YORK, June 14, 2018 — Harvard Law School’s Center on the Legal Profession (CLP) today announced Mark Harris, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Axiom, the leading global alternative legal services provider, as the recipient of its 2018 Award for Professional Excellence.

Each year, CLP brings together members of the legal community to honor those whose achievements have contributed to building a stronger legal profession. This year, Professional Excellence Award recipients were selected based on their leadership in pioneering innovation and the future of work within the legal profession.

“Mark’s vision for the legal industry has been a catalyst for industry change,” said David Wilkins, Vice Dean for Global Initiatives on the Legal Profession, the Lester Kissel Professor of Law and Faculty Director for the CLP. “This award recognizes the contributions Axiom has made advancing all parts of legal service delivery, implementing cutting-edge technology that enhances the role of the traditional lawyer and the way they unlock greater value for clients.”

Mark Harris is being honored alongside a list of prestigious peers in the industry including Kim Rivera, Chief Legal Officer and General Counsel, HP Inc. and Katherine Adams, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Apple Inc. The awards will be presented on June 14, 2018 at the CLP’s Fourth Annual Awards Dinner in San Francisco.

“It’s an honor to receive this award alongside other champions of legal innovation,” said Harris. “I’ve long admired the Center’s commitment to unbiased, empirical research and its passion for applying this ethos to the important subject of legal industry innovation. Of course, Axiom is constantly seeking new, innovative ways to help our clients. I am proud of the progress we have made over the past two decades, not only in creating technology-driven platforms that provide our clients with more efficient, cost-effective solutions, but also in providing aspiring legal minds the opportunity to grow their legal careers in the digital era.”

Harris joins an elite group of honorees who have been recognized by CLP in the past including Kenneth I. Chenault, CEO and Chairman, American Express; Sherrilyn Ifill, President & Director-Counsel, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund; Hon.
